Clarity Training is Essential

I operate under a simple belief. Every Christian leader and professional should have Clarity Training in their tool box. Clarity Training is essential. I believe any new leadership team should absolutely understand the Clarity Model. I believe any organization that wants to be successful should ensure Clarity Training for their key people. And I'll go even further. I actually believe that every young person in college or university should have Clarity Training under their belt before they graduate. Seeing yourself and your situation clearly and knowing what to do next is just that important. That's true for individuals and it's [...]

ICF Professional Certified Coach, Gary Wood

Along with many of my trained colleagues, I am an ICF Professional Certified Coach. ICF is the International Coach Federation, the most widely recognized credentialing organization in the professional coaching industry. Individual training organizations issue executive coaching certification credentials to their students. This is very much an area where you as a consumer need to do your homework. For instance, I graduated from Corporate Coach University many years ago – and that after having gone through Coach University. CCU is an extensive program of coach training aimed specifically at preparing professionals to serve the corporate and business coaching market. Training [...]

Christian Coaching

Christian coaching is uniquely positioned to serve today's busy Christian leaders. We believe Christian coaching has four distinctive characteristics appreciated by faith-based leaders and executives who work with us. Author Gary Collins highlights these in in his 2001 book, Christian Coaching. 1. God Centered Worldview - “Christian coaches use many of the same techniques that are used by their secular counterparts. But Christian coaching is unique in a number of ways. First and foremost is the biblical worldview that the Christian coach brings to the relationship.” “Like everyone else, we seek to become aware of our passions, life purposes, inner [...]

Professional Certified Coach

Before engaging a coach, give serious thought to working with a Professional Certified Coach. All coaches are not equal. While there are many coaches with no ICF certification that do a very good job, serious professionals aim for industry recognition and maintain recognized standards. The International Coaching Federation have prospective coaches go through a rigorous examination process to be credentialed. Those coaches who have received these higher and well recognized professional designations subscribe to a Code of Ethics and should be counted on to exhibit high standards of professional conduct. They have accumulated significant hours of client contact and are [...]

New Leadership at Christian Coaches Network

I am very pleased to announce that there is new leadership at Christian Coaches Network. As of July 1, 2012, Marcie Thomas has taken over from me as President and Director of this great organization. I have been honored to work with the hundreds of Christian coaches who form the CCN membership. These coaches cover every area of professional coaching imaginable. They are a very, very smart and engaged group of people with a love for the Lord and a passion to help people, organizations and communities. As far as practical help to CCN, I will not be going far. Difference Between Corporate Coaching, Counseling and Mentoring

Here is a very good article outlining the difference between corporate coaching, counseling and mentoring. In my opinion it is well worth the read as you consider how coaching is used within your organization. "Coaching" as a professional term has of course become a fad word over the last number of years, easily bandied about in almost every circumstance you can imagine. In general I would suggest that for leadership and executive coaching, you look outside the organization for a Coach. This ensures objectivity when it comes to your company or organization and its goals and priorities. The executive coach [...]
